Are you looking for an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects while organising events and raising awareness? MSF OCB’s LGBTQIA+ Working Group is looking for an intern.

CONTEXT

The LGBTQIA+ Working Group, under the umbrella of the Diversity and Anti Racism, is established to create an inclusive and supportive environment for MSF LGBTQIA+ employees. The working group aims to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization and to advocate for the interests and well-being of LGBTQIA+ employees. Additionally, the working group will support and uphold MSF’s social mission by advocating for LGBTQIA+ communities and patients in MSF projects. 

We are planning to expand our activities in 2025-2026 and are looking for an intern to help us making them a success. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The objective of the internship is to support the LGBTQIA+ Working Group with their events and activities.

In order to do this, you will need to:

  • Help organizing standalone events such as workshops, guest talks, discussion groups, and commemorative days related to LGBTQIA+ and other intersectionalities. 

  • Map and develop exchanges with Belgium-based LGBTQIA+ organisations and cultural players for potential collaborations.

  • Follow Belgium-based LGBTQIA+ events and promote them within MSF Belgium. 

  • Keep the working group’s intranet page updated with new and accurate information. 

  • Research, create, maintain, and distribute relevant glossaries; maintain and update the Working Group’s SharePoint sites.

  • Provide project support (technical and logistical) to other LGBTQIA+ Working Group activities. 

  • Research and document legislation, regulations, and practices in relevant areas. 

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Education: (ongoing) post-secondary education, preferably in social sciences, marketing, communication, or related field. 

  • Experience in event organising and promotion.

  • Experience with graphic design tools is an asset.

Competencies

  • Good planning and organising skills.

  • Attention to detail; ability to ask for clarification. 

  • Effective communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in Office 365.

  • Creativity  

  • Familiarity with communication tools and practices; good writing skills. 

  • Ability to adapt quickly; willingness to learn.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and proactively, and to proceed with little supervision.

  • Adhere to the MSF principles.

  • Adhere to the MSF Behavioural Commitments.

 Languages

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

  • Good knowledge of French and/or Dutch is desirable.

  • Other languages are an asset.

CONDITIONS

  • Expected starting date: As soon as possible

  • Location*: Brussels (Belgium)

*Due to legal administrative constraints, candidates must already be resident in Belgium or have a residence right as a student in Belgium or in the European Union allowing to move and study in the EU and with the willingness to relocate in Belgium at their own costs

  • Position type: Non-remunerated Internship - Registered student with mandatory internship under school/university convention

  • Internship duration: 6 months

  • Time allocation: 60-80% (3 to 4 days a week)

  • 100% reimbursement for public transportation costs in Belgium, and 7 EUR/day worked in the office to cover lunch costs
